How to Read the Display
"
That TV on the wall isn't trying to be cryptic. It's just shorthand. Once you can read it, you stop feeling like the new person — even if it's still your first month.
What's on the display
- The Warm-Up — usually at the top. Two movements you alternate through, with a descending rep ladder.
- The Workout — the bulk of the board. Broken into 3–5 stations (BLACK, BLACK BOXES, GREEN, GREY, sometimes BAR).
- Sometimes a Finisher — bonus work at the end if you have time.
What you'll see in the warm-up
Something like: "1. Bike — 2. 20 Shoulder Taps / 10 Push Ups % … 15 ST / 10 PU % … 10 ST / 10 PU %"
- Two partners alternate
- One hops on the bike, the other does the floor work
- The % symbol means switch (or rest, depending on context)
- Each line is one round; the rep counts descend
What you'll see in the workout
Something like: "[Station 1: BLACK] 1. Spotter — 2. 12 DB or BB Chest Press — x 4 Rds"
- You're at the BLACK station (rack area)
- One partner spots, the other does 12 reps of DB or BB chest press
- Switch, repeat, 4 rounds total
What you'll NEVER see on the main display
The MOD version. That's on a separate board. We cover it in the next lessons — but for now, know that there's always a scaled-down version posted nearby. Find it before you start.
Your move
Tomorrow's class, take a photo of the display (it's allowed — most members do). After class, decode each line. Stuck on something? Post the photo in the ATC private group and a coach or vet answers within an hour.
